So, rather than feeling sorry for myself, I decided to placate myself and had an enjoyable evening of Harry Potter fanfic. More precisely, Severus Snape fanfic. I hadn't read much HP ffic before, but some good ones grabbed me. A mild crush is now full blown, thanks to slytherin Plus some good reading at the Sexy, Sensual, Seductive Severus Snape Society I'll be well entertained now. There must be more, but that's as far as I got in one evening. So there, I've another obsession. The bewitching and impeccable, dark clothed Professor S. Snape, a seemingly devilish character. At least we are always made to question his loyalties. Is he or is he not, good. Whatever he is we know there's more to him than he wants to give us. Anyvay I'm drawn to that mysterious thing he has going on. heeOver the weekend I experimented with icons for my other obsession, Charmed. Tried a few to see how they looked in lj. Some need tweaking. I'm learning. Spring the slayer of winter :)

Yesterday we had evil weather. The day began bright and sunny, then by late afternoon sinister black clouds rolled in from the west. Quickly, the sky became so dark that it looked like dusk outside and I needed to turn on lights inside. Then it began thundering and lightning! Hard to believe since there's still snow on the ground and the temp was only +4 C. Then it began to snow and sleet so hard I could barely see across the street. Strange. All I have to say is, Heidi and whatsyourname, please refrain from the taking off the clothes for the camera bit, no one wants to see ribs poking out like that. Ghastly. Oscar, Bono, Spike and Me

I watched the Oscars, or should I say watched? Usually, I multitask while I tv watch. So there I was at my computer trying to figure out a PS problem as the Oscars provided a nice background noise. A few memorable events brought me back to tv land. I like that director.And then a voice, an unmistakable voice began to sing. So beautiful it was. I just stopped and melted. Bono oh Bono, you should have won, you rocked. I have a dog named after you Bono. He's short and dark with a big nose, and he's cute and old - my dog. *sigh* ShouldawonI don't know why I watch the Oscars, because I hadn't seen most of the entries, yet. I still have to see Lord of the Rings, The Two Towers. And I really want to. I'm going to because Aragorn wants me to. ;)But that's not really why we watch the Awards, is it?The clothes maybe? Oh well, I wasn't paying close enough attention to catch anything that warranted a big guffaw and hiss or oh look isn't that pretty.I have been more excited about the Academy Awards and the clothes.And tonight I watched the latest Buffy, Lies My Parents Told Me.I'm not saying anything to spoil, but the funniest line, I thought, was "You, me and mother" Remind you of anyone?Oh well, it was a grrrreat Spikecentric one.

Spoilers for Angel...Angel is back. However, I don't think I'm as happy about this as his cohorts are. I love mean old Angelus. I know...who doesn't. The past episodes with him have been the most exciting. I couldn't take my eyes off him and that Angelus swagger. Which would be wise. Ah well. After seeing Willow's interaction with the group I can see her merge very easily into the group. She'd add another interesting dynamic to the group that I'd love to see. I can see her in a new leadership role there.And loved those knowing glances between Willow and Wes, all their history remembered in Wes's half smile, some joking between them, and you could see they shared good memories, or at least memories that would always bind them.And I really like Faith.Then after three or more days of insomnia I slept like a dead dog last night. Full moons do this to me, some months are worse than others with the tossing and turning all night. Ack! Also felt out of sorts these days. I suspect it has something to do with a change in pressure, the warming trend, perhaps some strange chinook wind blew in from the west. They can do that those chinooks.I am feeling better today, though, feeling more myself. :)

And of course Alien and Aliens are on my all time fave movie list. I Never miss a showing on the Space channel. The first time I saw Alien I was mesmerized. Here was a tough no nonsense hero. And she was a woman. And she cared about her cat Jones. It blew me away! I love this movie, chest-bursting- deliciousness aside. Then years later Aliens proved to be as good, perhaps an even better movie. But I'll never forget Alien, how it made me feel, watching her race against time, an alien, and her own shipmates, to save herself and her cat. And guess what? No man around telling her how to save herself. Go Ripleys of the world. HA!Anyway, this is soooo fitting, in another way...I saw Alien in a drive-in theatre. I'll never forget the night. It was raining buckets, which only seemed to add an extra layer of darkness to an already dark and ambient movie. Perhaps it was better watching it through windshield wipers and rain, rather than a quiet stale theatre, I don't know. I'll never forget it.I ganked this quiz from ladyozma I agree with her, it's sad to watch the demise of the drive-in theatre across both our countries. I have some great memories because of them. hehe Not what you may be thinking. ;) Quite innocent. As a teen, my friends and I would pile into a few cars, some in the trunk, and go to the all nighters. What could be better on warm summer nights under the stars, watching horror movies until dawn? Then maybe breakfast and finally falling into bed to sleep for the day.*sigh*

Mr. Velve...

Mr. Velvet and I just got back from supper with my three brothers and their families. My birthday is Feb 21, yet it took all of us this long to come together. It's nearly impossible for them with their crazy work schedules and everyday life with kids and all. So, we went for Chinese food at this spectacular little restaurant called the Mandarin. The lemon chicken is the best on earth I am sure. We had a good variety from hot and sour soup, wonton soup, Chinese vegetables, rice and noodle dishes, shrimp and mussels, and I can't remember it all. Superb!Got some lovely prezzies, too. A tasteful and elegant amethyst stone on a chain. A gift certificate for a full body massage and facial at a spa. A Rolling Stones CD, and a bottle of wine. They really are sweethearts, my brothers. I'm happy and grateful just to have spent some time with them. Although, I am thrilled with their thoughtful gifts, I didn't expect them or need them, but I do need my brothers in my life. They are simply wonderful human beings.And I'm not letting them read this or it will go to their heads. heheI'm feeling quite pleased with myself right now. ;)
